Statement of Faith

The following outlines our Statement of Faith. While families are not required to fully adhere to every tenet, we do ask that you read and understand them. These beliefs shape the worldview from which our Homeschool Enrichment classes are taught. When attending Watermark Classes and events, we ask all participants to show respect for this perspective through their behavior, speech, and dress.

God

There is one true God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is co-eternal, co-existent, and co-equal in deity and power, worthy of all honor and glory.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived supernaturally by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Fully God and fully man, He has always been with God and is God. He lived a sinless life and willingly sacrificed Himself for our sins. His death satisfied God’s wrath, bringing forgiveness and eternal life. On the third day, He rose bodily from the grave and now sits at the right hand of the Father. From there, He intercedes as our high priest and advocate until His personal and visible return.

Holy Spirit

As part of our Statement of Faith, we affirm that the Holy Spirit is fully God and equal with the Father and the Son. He actively works in the world to reveal our sin and highlight our need for God’s grace and forgiveness. At salvation, the Spirit indwells believers, empowering them to live out their faith and understand spiritual truth. He equips every believer with spiritual gifts that serve the Church and glorify God.

Salvation

Salvation comes through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. By grace alone, through faith alone, those spiritually dead in sin are made alive through the righteousness of Christ. We do not earn righteousness ourselves. Instead, through genuine repentance, we rely completely on Christ’s substitutionary atonement.

The Bible

Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God and without error in their original texts. They reveal God’s complete will for the salvation of mankind and serve as the final authority for all matters of Christian faith and life.

• Man was created directly by God and in His image.

• God created the heavens and the earth, including all life, by direct act in six literal 24 hour days about 6,000 years ago (Gen 1:1; John 1:3; Col 1:16-17)

• Marriage is ordained by God, is between one man and one woman as set forth in the Bible, and is intended to be a picture of Jesus Christ and the Church.

• We affirm the spiritual unity of believers through our common faith in Jesus Christ and that lesser doctrinal differences which may exist should not hinder the cooperation of Christian home educators.
